Tasmanian Geographic
Description
pulled from site's meta descriptionIn the relatively small compass of this beautiful isle, I found all the diversified charms of many lands.” –Frank Hurley, 1947 Tasmanian Geographic shares the stories of the adventurers, observers, projects, organisations, businesses, and citizens of the island. We promote citizen science and documentation within the realms of publishing and ecotourism. We are a multimedia publication, and deal with text, photography, maps, video, and audio. Tasmania has travel magazines appealing to outdoor adventurers, luxury tourists, food enthusiasts and backpackers. There are island focus magazines shining a spotlight on the people, history, and natural wonders. There are academic, professional and amateur journals that document the island. There are geographical, natural history, and cultural societies. But to the best of our knowledge, there is no entity seeking to combine publication, science, and tourism: to gather multimedia stories, citizen science, mapmaking, field skills, and share it with the widest audience. We are working towards a launch of Tasmanian Geographic Issue One, and are establishing contacts with contributors, collaborators, and advertisers.
